about

This album was released in 2016 to good reviews and radio play: BBC Radio 3: Late Junction. Some of the material was performed as part of the EFG London Jazz Festival in 2017. It was composed between 2013 and 2016 in Japan where Taeko was living at the time. The influences and the integrated field recordings from Japan are quite apparent. For all the reviews visit Taeko's website:
Iridescent Clouds : All about Jazz : 2016: James Nadal. Listed by him as one of the best albums of 2016.
'There is an atmospheric element which Japanese musicians inherently weave throughout their compositions, giving their music a singular dimension which is readily identifiable. Acknowledged for her trademark lyricism, pianist Taeko Kunishima reflects upon the wonders of nature on Iridescent Clouds, offering elegant improvised passages encased in a meditative concept.'
